Of all the characters to to throw into 1602, why Angela? The five-pagers in 1602, they'll each be drawn by a different artist. The art is being done by Stephanie Hans, who did the painted five-pagers in the first Angela arc, and her style is just so gorgeous and I could not hope for anyone better to help me bring this to life. I'm co-writing the series with Kieron Gillen, and we're gonna have a similar structure to our current book, a 15-page overstory that focuses on Angela and Sera and a five-page substory that is a tale that Sera is telling.

We're combining this history and this flourishing time of Western literature with the mythology of the Marvel universe. Everyone from Spider-Man and Black Panther to Doctor Doom and Magneto made their bones in the 616. Most of the Marvel heroes you've come to know and love made their first appearances on Earth-616. Technically, Earth-616 has been around since 1939 with the introductions of both Namor the Sub-Mariner and the original Human Torch, but the main Marvel universe as we know it today didn't truly come to fruition until the 1960s when legends like Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko created some of the most famous superheroes of all time. This is the big one - the mainline continuity of Marvel Comics as a whole.
